Some Grand Theft Auto Fans think they saw Lance Barnes from Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, or at least a character that resembles him, walking around in the Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer. The just-released Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer has quickly broken YouTube records. Since fans have had to wait so long for their first look at the highly anticipated game, it is no wonder that the GTA 6 trailer is being ripped and analyzed non-stop.
Grand Theft Auto 6 fans have been analyzing the trailer and discovering various details. This has led to the discovery of small but impressive details about GTA 6 and the formation of fan theories about what the trailer means for the game’s story. One of the main theories is that the events in the GTA 6 trailer take place in reverse order, meaning that the attack on the protagonist Lucia at the end of the trailer is one of the first things to happen in the game.
One of the last bits of information from the GTA 6 trailer points to a backstory that bears a striking resemblance to Lance Vance from 2002’s Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, with Twitter user Vinewood Motors pointing out that while it is not the same character, there is a character running around who looks a lot like Lance Vance. The most likely explanation is that this NPC is a tribute to Lance Vance, or that the resemblance is coincidental. After all, Lance Barnes should not exist in the world of GTA 6, as it is a separate universe from the PS2 game. Moreover, GTA 6 is set in the present, while Vice City is set in the 1980s.
But it makes sense for Rockstar to add an Easter egg with a Grand Theft Auto: Vice City theme to Grand Theft Auto 6. After all, Grand Theft Auto 6 will have Vice City as one of its main locations. Many GTA fans have fond memories of Vice City and would love to see references to events and characters from that game, so while fans should not expect a literal appearance of Lance Barnes in Grand Theft Auto 6, it is at least possible to find a character that resembles him in this trailer.
If Rockstar Games’ previous work is any indication, it is likely that “Grand Theft Auto 6” will be full of Easter eggs to discover and since the open world of “GTA 6” is expected to be huge, it will take fans a long time to find everything. You can start your search for Easter eggs with “Grand Theft Auto 6” when it comes out in 2025.
