God of War: Ragnarok – Valhalla is made in a rogue-lite format following the formula of the base game, but many of the mechanisms present in the main adventure have been modified and introduced in the expansion pack.
Some of these are areas surrounded by walls that you can reach only if you meet certain conditions. Instructions to unlock the shelter walls and travel to these areas can be found below.
God of War: Ragnarok – This is How to Unlock the Refuge Wall in Valhalla.
As you progress through Valhalla, you will encounter smoke walls that block access to other parts of the safe zone between battles. The walls are marked with a padlock icon, indicating that they can be opened, but the game does not explain in detail how to do this when you first encounter a wall.
To unlock the Sanctuary Barrier, you need the Sanctuary Barrier Key. This can be found at the Table of Influence in the Main Coast Center and can only be made by continuing on the expedition to Valhalla and passing levels. The first key can be made with 100 spiritual seals, but the price increases with each purchase. Although it seems like a lot of money, it is worth every Elemental Seal, as unopened barriers remain open throughout the game.
The Sanctuary Barrier in God of War: Ragnarok – Valhalla is an item you’ll want to unlock as often as possible, especially if you have trouble winning battles. You’ll also find a variety of other items, such as Ephemeral Echoes and Sigils of the Masters. If you want to see everything this expansion has to offer, you’ll need to unlock all the barriers. You will be able to discover new costumes in new areas.
