Tracy Wiles, the actress who played Zahayla in Baldur’s Gate 3, recently saw her YouTube account suddenly blocked for no reason. The account was blocked without warning, leaving Baldur’s Gate 3 actors and fans in confusion.
Zahera is one of four non-premium companions that players will encounter in the second half of Baldur’s Gate 3. The veteran High Harper appeared in Baldur’s Gate 1 as one of the first companions recruited by players and is one of two characters that players can recruit in all three games. In Baldur’s Gate 3, she is played by Wilds, who began playing live on YouTube and Twitch.
On December 5, Wilds discovered that her YouTube account had been blocked without warning or notification. She wondered why and posted a message on her personal Twitter account. TeamYouTube, the social network’s support account for the streaming service, responded that it was investigating the matter and almost a week later said her account was “linked to a Google account that is having problems.” The company has not responded since, leaving Zahayla’s voice in Baldur’s Gate 3 with more questions than answers.
Initially, Wiles speculated that his account was banned due to the frequent use of the term “sphincter gate” during broadcasts, which was used in Balder’s Gate 3 to describe the player’s spaceship door. However, it was decided that sphincter gate, although used as humor, was a medical term and did not violate YouTube’s terms of use. However, this did not stop fans from dubbing the scandal as “sphincter-gate” on social media, and the hashtag, along with #Frijahayra, generated further interest in Wiles and his game.
Wiles has since reached out to YouTube to resolve and normalize his Google account. YouTube will be normalized soon, but in the meantime, fans can watch Wiles’ videos on his Twitch account.
At the Game of the Year awards, Baldur’s Gate 3 managed to beat out its competitors to win six of the eight nominations, including Game of the Year.
