On March 31, Another FromSoftware Game Will Be Shut Down

March 31, 2024, sees the closure of the Dark Souls 2 PS3 and Xbox 360 servers along with the release of a second FromSoftware title.

While Dark Souls 2 will remain online on PC, PS4, and Xbox One after the shutdown, all online features for Armored Core: Buried Day will be unavailable.
The shutdown removes several game modes, achievements/trophies, and Soldier model DLC, but story missions will remain available.

FromSoftware has announced that the online servers for Armoured Core: Buried Day will close on Sunday, March 31, 2024. Armored Core: Buried Day originally came out in 2013, so the servers will be closed more than a decade after its release. However, it is not the only game to be shut down online on Sunday, March 31, 2024.

Unfortunately for fans of FromSoftware, online services for two of the company’s games are being discontinued today. Online services for the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Dark Souls 2 will cease on March 31, 2024. Fortunately, those playing the PC, PS4, and Xbox One versions of Dark Souls 2 need not worry that the servers on the platform of their choice will be shut down.

This means that the online experience of Dark Souls 2 technically continues after the servers of the original version are shut down, but this is not the case for Armoured Core Bulldog Day. Since Armoured Core Bulldog Day was never released on PC, nor re-released or remastered, all online services for the game will be shut down when the PS3 and Xbox 360 servers go down on March 31. All game modes will become inaccessible and players will lose access to everything related to the game’s online services, including World Mode, Massénariat features, region adjustments, leaderboards, team menus, etc. This means players will not be able to unlock all achievements/trophies in the game and it will be impossible to complete Armoured Core: Buried Day 100% after March 31. The Soldier Model DLC will also be removed on the same day.

Needless to say, most of Armoured Core: Day of the Bardock will be destroyed on March 31. However, the game will not be completely unplayable. The story missions in Armoured Core: Verdict Day will still be available after March 31, but to get the full experience, players will need to play as much of the FromSoftware mechanical action game as possible between now and March 31.

While Armoured Core fans may be sad to see the Verdict Day servers shut down, Armoured Core 6: Rubicon Flames has been critically acclaimed and has recently added a class mode to expand online options. Now that the servers are closed, there’s never been a better time for Armoured Core fans to try out the new game.
